المدخنة الشمسية أو المدخنة الحرارية (Solar / Thermal Chimney) هيكل يشبه المدخنة التقليدية يُبنى في الجهة التي تستقبل أكبر قدر من أشعة الشمس، ويساعد على تهوية المبنى وتبريده وتدفئته بشكل طبيعي دون تدخّل أجهزة، وهو أحد الطرق المستدامة والصديقة للبيئة.
The solar chimney (or thermal chimney) is a structure resembling a traditional chimney, built on the side that receives the most sunlight. It helps ventilate, cool, and heat the building naturally without mechanical devices, and is one of the sustainable, eco-friendly methods.
تتمّ الطريقة عندما تقوم أشعة الشمس بتسخين الهواء داخل المدخنة، التي تتكوّن من هيكل زجاجي مقابل للشمس وجزء إسمنتي مصبوغ بلون داكن ملتصق بالمبنى. فيصعد الهواء الساخن إلى الأعلى ليخرج من الفتحة في أعلى المدخنة، وبذلك يسحب الهواء من داخل المبنى إلى الخارج.
The method works when sunlight heats the air inside the chimney, which consists of a glass structure facing the sun and a dark-colored cement section attached to the building. The hot air rises to exit through the opening at the top of the chimney, thereby drawing air from inside the building to the outside.
كما يمكن الاستفادة من الهواء الحارّ، بدلاً من خروجه، بتدويره إلى داخل المبنى ليقوم بالتدفئة في فصل الشتاء؛ حيث تُقفَل الفتحة في أعلى المدخنة، وتُنشأ فتحات داخل المدخنة تُوصَّل وتُوزَّع في كامل المبنى.
The hot air can also be used, instead of being expelled, by recirculating it into the building for heating in winter; the opening at the top of the chimney is closed, and vents are created inside the chimney, connected and distributed throughout the building.
وهي تناسب الأجواء الحارّة، ويمكن الاستفادة منها في تهوية أو تدفئة جزء صغير من المبنى أو المجالس الخارجية. وأساليب كهذه تقلّل بشكل كبير من استهلاك الكهرباء.
It suits hot climates, and can be used to ventilate or heat a small part of the building or outdoor sitting areas. Methods like these greatly reduce electricity consumption.
